"First in Flight"
In 1903, the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, achieved the world's first successful powered, controlled, and sustained heavier-than-air flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Piloted by Orville, the first flight on December 17, 1903, lasted 12 seconds and covered 120 feet. Later that day, Wilbur flew the Wright Flyer 852 feet in 59 seconds, marking the longest flight of the day.
