Thomas Gunn Miniatures ACCPACK047A Panzer IV - 555

This 1/30 scale tank comes with a commander figure wearing the brown leather tankers uniforms issued to the 12th SS and all have detachable metal side skirts.

A version with unit markings '555' for a Panzer IV commanded by 12th SS Sturmbannfuhrer Karl Heinz Prinz Knights Cross recipient, killed in action July 1944 in Normandy.

The Panzer IV was the backbone of the German armored forces during WW2 and served right though from the Polish campaign until the bitter end in Berlin in 1945, with around 8500 being built in all versions. The Panzer IV chassis was also the basis for the Brummbar and Jagdpanzer and various other German armored fighting vehicles.
The Panzer IV saw service in all combat theatres involving Germany and was the only German tank to remain in continuous production throughout the war. It received various upgrades and design modifications, intended to counter new threats and extending its service life. Generally, these involved increasing the Panzer IV's armor protection or upgrading its weapon systems. During the last months of the war with Germany's pressing need for rapid replacement of losses, design changes also included the simplification of the manufacturing process. The Panzer IV was supposed to be replaced by the Panther but like with many tried and trusted designs and a lack of suitable replacements, the Panzer IV soldiered on to the last days of the war.
