This set features Medal of Honor Winner Pte Douglas Jacobson. At the Battle for Iwo Jima, Jacobson’s battalion was held up by several Japanese bunkers and could not advance further. Jacobson took a Bazooka forward and destroyed 16 enemy emplacements with his Bazooka and killed 75 Japanese soldiers in the process. For this series of events he was awarded the Medal of Honour by President Truman in October 1945. He was still only 19 years old when he received the award, a great example of true grit in the face of adversity.
