First Legion is pleased to present the first wave of enemies for
Imperial Rome, the
Ancient Germans! The Ancient Germans were among Imperial Rome’s unflagging opposition. Rome won many of the Wars, but they never subjugated the Germanic tribes the way that they had most of their other enemies. Ancient Germany remained the northern border of the Roman Empire throughout its existence. The period of late Republic and Empire were a series of wars and uneasy truces that would last until the late Empire when the Ancient German tribes burned Rome. These figures are perfect for such tribes as the Marcomanni, the Quadi or other Ancient Germans during the Marcomannic Wars between 166 and 180 AD facing off against Marcus Aurelius. They make a much needed addition to any serious Roman toy soldier collection!
Sometimes the old ways are the best ways. This tribesman carries a traditional round shield with metal boss and wears a fur kilt.
