Although he died just before the Battle of Sekigahara, Maeda Toshiie (1538-1599) was still one of Japan’s most important Samurai generals and a major influence in creating the second most powerful clan in Japan during the ‘Tokugawa Shogunate’.
In battle he could be easily recognized by his tall distinctive gold helmet decorated with a mane of white horsehair over the ‘Shikoru’, an armoured neck guard attached to the rear and sides of his helmet.
