Understanding Sebastian Miniatures
Since 1938 and until 2013, Sebastian Miniatures have been designed, copyrighted, put into production and all hand painted.
The original artist was Prescott W Baston from 1938 till the early 1980's and then passed on to his son, Woody Baston (Prescott Jr)
Each and every Sebastian Miniature has a copyright date. This is the date the piece was originally designed. Some pieces were made just that year where other "common" pieces were produced over a forty-year period.
From 1938 till 1945 the pieces were made in a studio located in Arlington, MA. From 1946 till 1975 in a studio in Marblehead, MA then moved to a studio in Hudson, MA and began an association with Lance Corp and Hudson Pewter. Finally, upon the closing of Lance the studio moved to Wayland, MA in 1998 with a short stopover in Stoughton, MA.
