Carousel #6054 "Black Falcon" Fokker Triplane

1/48th Scale, Measures approximately 4.75" nose-to-tail x 6" wingspan

Carousel 1 is proud to announce models licensed by the movie FLYBOYS. FLYBOYS is directed by Tony Bill ("Crazy People," "Untamed Heart"), produced by Dean Devlin ("Independence Day," "The Patriot," "Stargate") of Electric Entertainment, and distributed by MGM. The real Lafayette Escadrille flew silver Nieuport 17's with a Seminole chief insignia, as portrayed in the movie. In France, RAWLINGS, Eugene SKINNER (Abdul Salis), and other American volunteers are trained to fly before being sent into combat with the Lafayette Escadrille under veteran Reed CASSIDY (Martin Henderson). Their chief adversaries are German pilots flying Fokker Triplanes, led by the black airplane of the BLACK FALCON and the red CROSSED SWORDS.

BLACK FALCON is a ruthless adversary who battles several members of the Lafayette Escadrille. The falcon insignia is derived from real WW1 German insignia.

Designed in response to the highly maneuverable Sopwith Triplane, the Fokker Dr.I was first flown in 1917 and was one of the most successful and recognizable combat aircraft of WWI, attributing much of its fame to the German WWI ace Manfred von Richthofen – the iconic "Red Baron". Light weight, small size and three wings made the aircraft highly maneuverable and deadly in the hands of an expert pilot but very unforgiving of less experienced pilots. Common for airplanes of that era, a fixed crankshaft configuration allowed the entire engine to spin with the propeller, creating strong gyroscopic forces that adversely affected the airplane's handling under power.

Carousel 1 "AirCraft" diecast airplanes feature:
  • Diecast metal construction with some plastic components.
  • Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details.
  • Pad printed markings and placards that won't fade or peel like decals.
  • Interchangeable extended/retracted metal landing gear with rotating wheels and rubber tires.
  • Extremely detailed cockpit interiors with glazed instruments.
  • Detailed removable pilot figures.
  • Spinning metal propellers.
  • Accurately detailed underside with concealed screwheads.
