Del Prado SNC014 Private, 2nd Regiment King's German Dragoons, 1812

In 1803, seeking to strike at the British but thwarted by the Royal Navys command of the English Channel, Napoleon sent an army corps to occupy the King of Englands Hanoverian electorate, over which Britains dynasty still reigned, and forced her to adopt neutrality. One of the consequences of this particular piece of aggression was a steady movement of men of the former Hanoverian Army to England, where they rallied as the Kings German Legion. Many more European refugees had ended up in British pay, but the KGL was something different: a large force of all arms, which would come to represent a significant minority of Britains troops in the field, whose professional quality would keep it in the forefront of the British effort to bring down the French dictator and free Hanover from occupation by Napoleons troops.
