Del Prado SNC085 Trooper, Chasseurs de Nassau, 1810

In 1806 Nassau consisted of twin duchies Nassau-Usingen and Nassau-Weilburg. These lands were the rump of the ducal possessions which had existed up to that point, those lands on the west bank of the Rhine and many of those on the east bank having been taken by France or by the newly founded Grand Duchy of Berg. Among the lost provinces were Nassau-Saarbrucken and Nassau-Oranien.

As compensation for these losses, Prince (Frst) Friedrich Wilhelm of Nassau-Weilburg had received the districts of Limburg and Ehrenbreitstein opposite Koblenz on the Rhine-Moselle junction).
