First Legion delivers the 2nd Lancers of the Imperial Guard, the legendary Red Lancers in exquisite hand painted miniature! Recruited in 1810 from Holland after the French annexation, the Dutch regiment served with distinction during all campaigns between 1812 and 1815. The regiment was devastated in 1812 during the Russian Campaign, and the replacements were mostly Frenchmen; being one of the few original Dutchmen by 1815 was a source of great pride. The Red Lancers of the Guard wore striking red uniforms, carried fearsome lances, and were led by Colonel Edouard Colbert. They served with great distinction in Russia, Saxony, the low countries, and the 100 days.

Lancers were adept at riding down both opposing infantry and facing off against enemy cavalry. This trooper has leveled his lance for use against another rider.
