Lieutenant George Burnett, First Sergeant Moses Williams, and Private Augustus Walley, 1 Troop, 9th Cavalry Regiment, brave intense rifle fire in a heroic rescue attempt of three fellow "buffalo soldiers" pinned down by an Apache war party. Burnett, Williams and Walley received the Medal of Honor for their gallant actions.
