The Imperial Roman legions were the backbone of the Roman army constantly engaged across the Empire both defending and expanding her far flung borders in a wide variety of geography and climates. Legio XXX is First Legion's first foray into presenting the Legions of Rome as they would have appeared in colder climates as well as the first release featuring the heavier armored legions such as those engaged in the Dacian Wars.
The Legion was initially formed in 100 AD by Emperor Trajan to serve in the Dacian Wars and was otherwise known as "Trajan's Victorious Thirtieth Legion", a moniker they deservedly earned in the Dacian Wars. As their symbols were tied to the God Neptune, they are presented here with fish adorning their blue shields, a striking difference from the previous releases for the series. The Legion was in service across various parts of the Empire up to its final disbandment in the early 5th Century with the collapse of the Rhine frontier.
