Richard Nixon (1913-1994)
He enlisted in the Navy in 1942, served in the South Pacific during World War II. Nixon was exempt from military service for two reasons, being a Quaker and for his work in the Office of Price Administration, but decided not qualify for any of them and entered the service of the US Navy in August 1942.
In January 1969, he takes office as the 37th President of the United States and a year later began the withdrawal of American troops in Vietnam.
In 1974 the scandal of "Watergate" forced him to resign as President of the United States.
