John Jenkins Designs VM-03 Virginia Provincial Regiment of Foot - 3 Figures Marching

Limited Edition #175 of 500 sets.

The Virginia Provincial Regiment was formed in 1754, one of its main duties was to man the chain of small forts and patrol along the frontier during the war. The Regiment served at Fort Necessity, and with Braddock at Monongahela, as well as several other expeditions and campaigns during the French and Indian war.

After the death of Col. Joshua Frey in 1754, command fell to Lt.Col. George Washington. It was under George Washington's command that the “Virginia Blues” uniform of blue with red facings was introduced. It is not surprising that the blue coat became the colour for the first American uniform introduced by George Washington in the later American War of Independence.
