W. Britain's #17264 British General Sir Thomas Picton

During the Hundred Days, Picton rejoined the army as commander of the 5th Division, then stationed in Belgium. He was conspicuous at the Battle of Quatre Bras, where his units in the famous square formation stood off repeated French attacks. Although wounded, he was able to lead his division two days later at Waterloo. Dressed in his typical civilian clothes complete with top hat, Picton rode at the front of his men repulsing the French First Corps. As his men advanced, he was shot and killed. Thomas Picton commanded the respect of his men but not their affection. But despite his sternness, he was an excellent leader and reliable subordinate.
