First Legion presents the Imperial Russian Army in hand painted metal miniatures from the period of the Napoleonic wars in breathtaking detail. Though the British were most consistently at war with the French during the Napoleonic Era, the Russians fought them on the battlefield again and again throughout the wars. When Napoleon invaded Russia, the Russian Army spent 3 straight months retreating to the detriment of morale. After a scorched earth policy was adopted to prevent the French from resupplying, the French began to suffer from malnutrition and starvation. The Great Retreat cost Napoleon nearly his entire force under arms as the force was under constant attack by Russian irregulars and guerilla ambushes.

It was the Russians who dealt Napoleon his bloodiest days and made up his most dogged resistance including the catastrophic 1812 campaign; which was the direct cause of the collapse of Napoleon's Empire. They took part in the campaigns in 1805, 1806, 1807, 1812, 1813, and 1814 and, in the grim, stoic defense which they were renowned for, handed Napoleon his first reverse at Eylau.

Imperial Russia was the only European continental power not to be subjugated by the French, and you can view our collection of Russian Army painted metal figures by First Legion below by selecting a toy soldier to get started!
