First Legion

First Legion is pleased to present the first release of enemies for Imperial Rome, the Ancient Germans! The Ancient Germans numbered amongst Imperial Rome’s most hated foemen. Rome won many of the Wars, but were never fully able to subjugate Germania as they had most other enemies. Ancient Germany remained the northern border of the Roman Empire due to their dogged resistance to civilization. Throughout the period of late Republic and Empire, a series of wars and uneasy truces showed the determination of the Germanic Tribes. That state of affairs would last until the late Empire when the Ancient German tribes were among the many who went on to sack Rome. These hand painted military miniatures are suitable throughout the entire period, though First Legion designed them to be Ancient Germans during the Marcomannic Wars between 166 and 180 AD facing off against Marcus Aurelius. The Ancient German figures are perfect for such tribes as the Marcomanni, the Quadi, and others. They make a wonderful and much needed addition to any serious Roman toy soldier collection!

A golden torc flashing at his throat, this warrior raises his blade and howls with bloodrage.
