Austrian Artillery Officer
These Austrian Artillery figures continue the coverage of the Battle of Aspern Essling. With six different figures and 2 cannon variants, there are a variety of display options and Aspern Essling (or other dioramas featuring Napoleonic Austrians) can really take to take shape. There are a few interesting points about Austrian artillery. First, the gunners consisted entirely of volunteers, not conscripts, given them a high level of professionalism and esprit de corps. Second, the Austrians were the only major nationality to not have a fully developed system of horse artillery and gunners didn't have individual horses to ride during movement. They rode either on modified caissons or made use of a seat that was designed to sit on the gun trail and that option is presented with the 7 pound howitzer.

Thirty Years War Artillery Officer
The Thirty Years War was fought from 1618 to 1648 and was one of the bloodiest, most destructive conflicts in human history. One of the initial releases for the range was a Spanish Tercio formed up for the Battle of Rocroi in 1643 and now First Legion is adding a release of artillery and crew, being suitable to portray both the French and the Spanish artillery at the battle. Rocroi was a decisive French victory and marked the beginning of the end of the myth of invincibility of the Spanish Tercio. After several French cavalry attacks had routed the Spanish cavalry, the Spanish infantry were left unsupported and exposed to artillery attack. The French Commander, the Duc d'Enghien massed his artillery alongside the already captured Spanish guns, and relentlessly hammered the Spanish squares. The Germans and Walloons within the Spanish forces deserted, overwhelmed and broken, leading to the end of the battle in French victory.

French Carabinier Officer
This figure is a rendition of what Napoleon's Grande Armee would have appeared like on the horrific retreat from Moscow during the winter of 1812/1813. There are a variety of figures and vignettes that capture the harsh conditions of a 19th century army retreating from the vastness Russia. These figures will allow for wonderful dioramas that tell both the sad and heroic stories of Napoleon’s Retreat from Russia, arguably his worst and finest hours simultaneously.
