While the massive taiko was used to communicate general orders, individual commanders still had direct control over their troops. Exercising that control required specialized technology; and in feudal Japan, that meant a gunbai,  or war fan, for signalling troops that are in direct line of sight. This Takeda Clan Samurai Commander charges with his gunbai held out. The 1575 Battle of Nagashino helped bring the Tokugawa shogunate to power, uniting Japan under a single leader. First Legion has produced the Takeda cavalry and the Oda arquebus lines in hand painted metal miniatures for you to recreate this pivotal moment in Japanese history.
