Prayer lies at the heart of the Christian life. Through prayer, we strengthen the relationship that God desires to have with God's children. We make our needs and desires known to God even as we open ourselves to hearing God's word for us.
Often, we Christians do not feel comfortable in prayer. We rush through a few hurried words, we don't know quite what to talk to God about, we neglect the wonderful gift that God gives to us.
This CD was designed to assist in our lives of prayer. For 6 minutes every day, it guides us through the most basic issues of prayer: confession and forgiveness, prayers for guidance, and specific prayers about family, friends, our communities, our nation, and the world. Each day has a slightly different focus, even as the basic structure of the prayer remains the same. Appropriate music plays in the background, setting the proper tone for a time of prayer.
This CD came about as Rev. Peter Reuss sought ways to deepen the prayer life at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Benson, Illinois. Pastor Reuss developed the words used in the prayers. Jonathan Reuss, a church musician from Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa provided the music and recording.
