The Mortier de 58 mm type 2 was the standard French medium trench mortar of World War I. It was known as the Crapouillot or “Little Toad” from its appearance and could fire several variations of spigot launched bombs.
The U.S. Army also used this equipment on the western front. Our model features a two man crew of “Doughboys” loading the launcher and two transport boxes for bombs.
