THey pulled down two of my auctions because prohibit the selling of most items having to with Nazi Germany. THey claim that many people who buy these items are perpetuating the hate and that it is illegal to own these items in some countries.

What ever happened to the burden of responsibility to be on the individual. I mean, if you know it is illegal to own something and you do it anyway you are taking a risk in doing so but it is on you to decide. Right? I don't care if someone in Germany or France orders these items for their collection - they are the ones who must deal with the consequences which they are fully aware of.

I agree that neo-Nazi garbage is garbage but what about military history buffs, collectors, good honest people? What's up with this.

I feel like my freedom of speach has just been trampled on. It is not illegal in this country to own these things and so what if is someone in another country wants to put themselves at risk. They know what's legal and what is not.

Whew, had to get that out. Thanks.

I had the same problem and had mine pulled. You would think Toy Soldiers would not fall into that category.

Never mind our freedoms of free speech. Never mind the fact that this is history.

So then why don't they pull down Crusader figures or Spaniards during the inquisition or 7th cavalry figure, blah, blah, blah.

This really burns me. I can't believe that they are doing the policing for these European countries. And many of them were such willing partners too and now we have to be all PC on their behalf?

Shamefull.

I can top that Gideon, If I remember correctly I got an auction pulled once solely because the description mentioned it was an SS piece. I don't think it even said Nazi anywhere in the listing. I was pretty sure that another ebayer saw my listing and turned it in.
I was steamed at first, but considering the Nazi movement is still alive and kicking I decided if the policy did any good at all at any time I'd chalk one up for the greater good. That's why Treefrog Treasures doesn't have a visible LAH page. We don't want to be a source for every neo-Nazi who googles the internet looking for figures of Nazi leaders to decorate their desks.
The prohibition of selling Nazi-related items has always been an ebay policy since I can remember. I used to be a power seller quite a few years ago before I focused solely on toy soldiers and launched my website. I just reminded myself that whoever owns ebay can make whatever policies they want. Like I tell my son when he plays at the houses of his friends-"their house, their rules" It is frustrating to think that practically half of WWII toy soldiers get no representation on ebay but I think I admire the ebay powers-that-be for sticking to their values. I don't think it's necessarily in response to pressure of certain countries because it affects US to US transactions as well. The only country I know of that prohibits import of Nazi memorablia is Germany.
I assume the reason Crusaders etc. are allowed is because there aren't too many neo-Crusader fruit loops out there, unlike those who would allow their minds to be poisoned by neo-Nazi propaganda.
That's just my two cents.

I have also noticed that items listed as "Elite" instead of SS get by the censors. Mr. Storks idea also will help when listing.

Also, if you just say LAH, I've seen many auctions go through to their conclusion since the censors dont pick up what the code means

Does K&C have a distributor in Germany? And if so, do they offer the whole collection? I a wondering because I thought that toy soldiers and models did not fall under the category of "Nazi memorabilia".

I don't believe that E-bay prohibits the sale of WWII German stuff because Germany does not allow it. I remember that a few years ago the some Jewish organizations protested for the sale of anything related to Nazi Germany, and E-bay decided to placate these groups by adopting this policy. Putting the stupidity and "Big Brother" nature of the policy aside, I think it is a bad business decision. There is a huge market for not only toys but also vintage items connected to the Germans in WWII (let's face it, the German stuff is the most interesting from an aesthetic, technical and financial point of view). And I also wonder if the geniuses at E-Bay would allow the sale of an Iron Cross dated 1916 and forbid the sale of one dated 1942.

So, Whats the differance between an SS guy in Parade dress, or an SS guy in a camo smock? They're both SS. The one in combat gear is okie dokie ?
Anytthing to do with Nazi Germany is a no no, then why is everything else okay.Tiger tanks, ect. ect.

Hi,
In Germany there is at least one K&C distributor where you can find some LAH stuff ( what I've seen there though looks like the most discreet: SA flag bearers, etc..., no Hitler or his car, and so on). The website is www.zinnfigur.com, and you'll find K&C in their «round figures» section. Now I think that forbidding LAH auctions is a bit extreme. Most people do not collect those items because they are nazis. After all, almost any article on earth can be perverted if someone wants so, and I think attitudes like this will hardly make any kind of dent on neo nazi followers. On the contrary, by having our freedom curtailed because of them, people are handing them some kind of victory. Let's preserve freedom and tolerance from another kind of dictatorship, the political correctness dictatorship. Let's not force things on people unless one really has to. Let's not travel the road of censorship. History is there for all to see, are we going to try to hide it because of some insane minds? These are historical miniatures, they have no say whatsoever except in people's minds. Pretty ridiculous, that's what I think of this.

Happy collecting,
Paulo

Further to your situation ..it helps if when listing to mention pre 38,as for some reason they will allow it ,also a front shot of flags or insigina will also pass...eg ELASTOLIN..items listed have no restrictions,as most were made and listed as pre-war.In my dealings with ebay ,only four countries .. Germany, Austria, Italy and France have set rules regarding SS and Nazi political items ,not so for regular Wermacht history...ern
