King & Country
DISPATCHES
JUNE 2003

At long last SARS is on the decline and Hong Kong is getting back to normal.
We’ve actually seen an increase in our retail store’s sales in June
compared to last year so let’s hope that’s a good sign ----- talking of
good signs…

1. RED HOT NAPOLEONICS & LEIBSTANDARTE

(A) You could not find two series more different than our colourful new
“Age of Napoleon” and the sinister, black-clad “Leibstandarte Adolf
Hitler”.
Yet they share two common features…both are new, original, high quality and
modestly priced and they have wide collector appeal all over the world.
And it’s not just us that say that. “Toy Soldier” magazine out of the UK
awarded our Napoleonics the highest ever score in their new product category
for a new series. In fact they rated it as the best new series by any
company in the last few years. Now that’s praise indeed. From our own
dealer response and reorders we can see many of you agree.
I must apologize at this point that the demand for these new figures has so
outstripped supply that some of you have had to wait for new stocks to come
from the factory.

(B) “Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler” is the other success story and again,
apologies. We thought we had ordered more than enough supplies for the first
release but we were proved wrong.
Fortunately we’re doing “QC” on the next big batch soon. We expect ample
stocks to be delivered to Hong Kong for export by late June.

2. WHAT’S COOKING THIS MONTH?

(A) June’s big release is the “IRAQ WAR SPECIAL FORCES”. 4 superb sets of
fighting figures including a knocked-out T62 Tank to add onto last year’s
highly successful “Afghanistan” series.
All 4 sets are action-packed US Marines, British Royal Marines and Iraqi
Republican Guard. The tank set also includes a bronze Republican Guard Tank
Corps badge absolutely free. A limited supply of antique silver Republican
Guard Cap badges will be given to dealers free of charge according to their
order size of the Special Forces series, while stocks last.
For pictures, full description and prices see the attached list.

(B) “Streets of Old Hong Kong”. This month features some colourful new
additions. Just 3 small sets…but very cute and modestly priced. Among the
figures are a grandmother carrying a baby in the traditional Chinese style…
a great new upgraded Fruit Seller and…2 little boys eating fruit.
Again, pictures, descriptions and prices on the attached sheets.

3. “IN THE WORKS” DEPT

No less than 6 all-new “D.DAY’44” sets of figures and vehicles are being
produced as I write.
These sets (DD36-42) will include a brand-new “Deuce and a Half” truck
with rolling wheels, 3 figures and space for sitting GI’s. In addition our
first U.S. armoured car --- The M8 Grayhound complete with 37 mm gun, a
vehicle commander, a driver plus 2 x 82nd Airborne troopers.
Add on 2 x 4 man sets of fighting paras…one set 82nd …the other 101st plus
a U.S. Military Policeman on a Harley Davidson and a standing M.P. and you’
ve got a pretty exciting July.
More photos and details in the next issue.

4. BEING RETIRED

In the upcoming month’s we’ll be adding on a whole bunch of new WWII
Germans --- AFRIKA KORPS…GROSSDEUTSCHLAND Classic Germans…and WAFFEN SS.
That means we are retiring some of our earlier sets --- primarily the
FALLSCHIRMJAGER range of fighting paratroopers. Some dealers complain that
we don’t give them enough warning about items being retired so I hope this
helps…
